Australian Optimist Team Racing Championship 2027
TEAM NSW SELECTION PROTOCOL
NSWIODA will have the opportunity to enter up 3 - 5 teams of Open Fleet sailors to the AOTRC to be raced on 3 January 2027.
Participation in the AOTRC is a requirement to qualify for the AOST to attend the IODA World or Continental Championships.
NSWIODA will select teams to represent NSW from the sailors entered for the 2027 Austalian Optimist Championship but the close of ontime entries, based on sailor rankings based on the progressive sailor rankings from the 2026 events listed below (excluding the worst result).
That is rankings will be determined by the best three of:-
- NSW State Championship
- East Coast Championship
- ACT Championship
- Summer Optimist Regatta- Sydney
Sailors who miss an event due to representing as part of AOST or AODS will receive average points for the event they miss.
NSWIODA reserves the right to exercise its sole discretion in the selection of teams. This may include the selection of high performing sailors who for reasons beyond their control (eg: illness, injury or other exceptional circumstances) are unable to meet the standard selection criteria.
Sailors will be notified of selections by Friday 19th December.
